Letting Go
He watched her run full-speed to reach Riley in time. He watched her until she disappeared from his sight. He watched, even though he couldn’t see her.
He loved her. He’d never stop loving her. He knew that just as he knew how to kill vampires. He’d long since accepted she’d never be his.
He turned and went home. To Anya. He liked Anya; she was fun. But Buffy? he loved.
He found her, curled up in the doorframe, soaked and crying. She said one word. “Xander.”
Then she did something he never thought she’d do. Buffy kissed him.
Revelation
She loaded her work on the disk and smiled in satisfaction as she leaned back. Then she heard his voice taunting her.
How could he be here? Rupert slept on a cot in his office twice a week, preparing his meals there, to ensure that the school would be considered a home by whatever rules dictated what a vampire could enter. They’d revoked Angel’s invitation.
She heard herself ask the question she’d been voicing internally. He quoted the Latin phrase to her and she automatically translated it.
This was it. She was going to die.
Didn’t mean she wouldn’t fight.

You see, the first one was done because of something I wanted to show … and then the end surprised me. The second was done … it’s always bugged me that Ms. Calender couldn’t figure out how Angel got into the school. A school is not a living place … unless it is.
