So, I'm taking a "course" with Mary Kay called "PaceSetters". It's what you take to learn how to do things, more in depth than the weekly meetings. And I'm loving it. Really truly LOVING it. The problem is, now to get my homework points, it's hingent on other people. In other words, other people being willing to book parties.

I'm doing a scavenger hunt. ALL I need is people's names and phone numbers. I approached fifteen women. FIFTEEN bloody women. Every single one of them, EVERY SINGLE ONE OF THEM, declined. Almost all of them declined because their sister or their mom or their cousin or their roommate or their best friend or their grandmother's sister's aunt's cousin's dog twice removed is their consultant.

Which on the one hand, yay, people interested in Mary Kay! On the other hand, I could convince someone to just give me their name and phone number, and they get to have a free party. (The only two ladies who didn't say they already have a consultant, did so because A) They're from FLORIDA, and B) They're too busy. I could have argued with the busy, and if I knew them well, I could argue with the Florida, but I can't argue with the Florida when I DON'T know them well.)

All I need is names and phone numbers. ANYTHING. But I can't get them.

I iz a discouraged kitten right now.

Do you know about FACIAL BOXES???? Get one, or make one, and ask a local nail salon if you can leave it on the drying rack. You will get at least one name per day for the first few weeks. Then, when it runs dry, you move it to another nail salon, or a local florist.

I've thought about doing that. There's a local coffee shop that I could do that, too. And my fiancee is going to help me make a flyer that he'll hang up at work.

Thanks for reminding me about the boxes!

You're welcome! We MK ladies have to work together. That's why Mary Kay Ash gave us the Golden Rule principle and told us to have "Go Give" attitudes. If you get stuck on anything, talk it out with your director. Someone at Career Conference A.C. said that your director should be your best friend, and I truly believe that. I don't know how big a unit you're in, but some Cadillac Units... I can see how people can fall through the cracks when a director has 100 or more on her team. That's when you have to look to your MK sisters for advice. I'm glad I could help. If you ever need anything, you know where to find me.

I'm sorta part of two Cadillac units. The one that the person who recruited the girl who recruited me is from (we're part of Tammy Crayk's unit, if that means anything :D), and the unit we're adopted into, since Tammy's in Salt Lake, and we're in Idaho. Denise, the unit leader that's adopted us, is amazing, and she's made it clear that we can call her at any time. But it all comes easy to her. I've heard her go up to people, talk about Mary Kay, and leave the conversation with a party on her calendar. On the one hand, she's able to do it that easily because she's been doing it for over twenty years. I try to imitate her, and it doesn't get the results she gets. So I add my own style to it, and it doesn't get the results. Although I did have a lot of ladies (almost every single one of them, actually) say that they wish they could, but they already have a consultant. And I backed the heck off, because we don't steal consultants.

On the upshot, I went to the store late last night, and came home with a name and number! Yay!
