Important Question
Dec. 4th, 2007 01:41 pmI want to know if anyone would be able and willing to donate a minivan (or even a full size or cargo van, if that's what you have) to a non-profit ministry. If you are looking for a tax write off (unfortunately, I don't really understand the tax things), this would be a good thing for you.
The reason I am asking is because our minivan has died, and the mechanic (who had an $800 job staring him in the face) told us that it really wouldn't be worth it to put that much money in the van. So we are now stranded in Long Island, where some fantastic churches and people have been helping us out, even loaning us their cars, with no van.
If you have a van that you would be willing to donate, but don't think that it is in good enough condition, don't worry about it.

Covenant Players is a proffessional, international drama ministry. We travel all over the world (last I heard, we travel to 27 different countries) and perform in the native language of the people we minister to. The founder of Covenant Players, Charles M. Tanner, felt called by God to bring drama back into the church. He told God that if God would keep supplying the actors, Chuck would keep writing the plays. Over forty years later, God is still providing the actors, and Chuck wrote over 3,500 plays for us to use. We do require payment when we minister, but that provides our gas and other bills. We keep our fee as low as possible so that we can serve as many people possible, including the smaller churches. Because of that, we do not have major vehicular repairs built into the budget. When something like this comes up, we have to raise the money or vehicle.
