Reasons

I joined this community to stay in touch with people. I joined because I wanted to read what people were saying. I joined because in a lot of ways, this is a “safe” place for me to post. I can say things, and have people agree. Or if they don’t agree, they will say so in a calm, rational way. And then I can explain why I feel my way.

I’m sorry. I’m crying right now. I’ll explain in a moment. I just read a post … that had 359 comments … and none of the comments were good. Instead, people were arguing with the poster, “How dare he …” and then arguing with themselves. When one person said something, a half dozen jumped on them for saying something THAT THEY DIDN’T EVEN SAY. I’m sorry. I’m not trying to yell. But I don’t know how to do italics. And then, when the poster tried to explain in another post, he got lambasted again, and I don’t think that’s fair.

Why can’t people hear what people say, and not imagine something else? Why can’t people accept that some people don’t like something, and they’re not saying it’s wrong, they’re saying that they don’t like it? Why can’t people look at observations this person has made previously and since, and see that 1) he didn’t mean it the way people are taking it, and 2) he DIDN’T SAY IT?

I’m sorry, this has left me very disappointed. In human beings in general.

1. The first character I first fell in love with: Doyle. I just liked him, okay?
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Wesley. I remembered him as the self-righteous prig that screwed things up … but that’s not who he was at the end of the show.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Gunn. Look, I like him fine, but the characters that I don’t like, everyone else doesn’t like, so there goes that. Unless nobody likes Harmony?
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Illyria. And chick is a darn fine actress.
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Lindsey and I have had on/off moments.
6. The character I would shag anytime: I’m changing this to “date”. Uh, Wesley.
7. The character I’d want to be like: In a lot of ways? Kate. In others, Fred. I’d like to be a good mixture.
8. The character I’d slap: Saint Corduffy the glowworm (I saw that description once and fell in love with it.)
9. A pairing that I love: Wes/Fred
10. A pairing that I despise: Gunn/Fred
11. Favorite character: Cordelia season one. Kate. Wes. Angel himself. Darla. Yeah, I have a lot of favorites.

Buffy the Vampire Slayer
1. The first character I first fell in love with: Xander. Beyond a shadow of a doubt.
2. The character I never expected to love as much as I do now: Tara. It all changed with a look. That look, when Glory was breaking her hand.
3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Willow. I really liked her in the high school years … but then I realized that I really didn’t like her.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Riley. I thought he was a good guy. I wish he would have stuck around.
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Willow. Mainly Willow.
6. The character I would shag anytime: Again, changing to date. XANDER. No ifs, ands, or buts, Xander.
7. The character I’d want to be like: Tara in some ways. Buffy in others. Xander in a lot.
8. The character I’d slap: Oh, gosh. ANDREW. Do you even have to ask?
9. A pairing that I love: Buffy/Xander
10. A pairing that I despise: In canon? Buffy/Spike. In fanfiction? I don’t do slash. Simply not my cup of tea. Excluding that … Willow/Xander. It’s just not my thing.

Harry Potter

3. The character everyone else loves that I don’t: Draco.
4. The character I love that everyone else hates: Percy pre-Book Five.
5. The character I used to love but don’t any longer: Percy.
6. The character I would shag anytime: Yet again, date. Uh … Ron, Harry, Percy in any of the first four books, the twins … there’s actually a pretty long list.
7. The character I’d want to be like: Hermione.
8. The character I’d slap: Draco. I cheered for Hermione when she did, and wished it could have been me. But I’ve actually gotten to where I feel sorry for Draco.
9. A pairing that I love: Harry/Hermione.
10. A pairing that I despise: Slash. I did see one that I just didn’t think I could get into. Not slash: the pairing was Snape and Hermione … and somehow, it just plain worked. Yahtzee is stinking unfair. The only reason I read it was because it was Yahtzee.
