Four Drabbles

(I fixed the spelling. I apologize profusely. No, I don’t use the spell check, mainly because it keeps wanting to change things that I know is correct, and so by the time it gets around to pointing out the real errors, I’m not paying attention anymore. Still, the people around me deserve better than a half-assed job.)
Okay, so I decided to write drabbles on everything I’d requested, and got a little carried away. Nemo Gravis, I loved your gift for me. It made my day, and really made me think.

** So I wrote a drabble on a conversation between Xander and Tara. Not because yours wasn’t good, it was great. (I loved the spandex line.) But it made my creative juices flow.**
Untitled Drabble #1
“So you’re the girlfriend.” She nodded. She wasn’t going to risk her tongue knotting up. Not for this. She knew instinctively that for her and Willow to work, he’d have to approve. “She could have told me, you know.” One corner of his mouth lifted. “She used to tell me everything.
She said the unspoken words. “Until m-me? That’s n-not fair.” She steadied herself. “You ca-can’t hold m-me responsible for your friendship. How m-many girlfriends did you t-tell her about? Cordelia, Faith? You want her to talk to you? Talk to her.”
He shrugged. “You’re right. You’re blunt, y’know that?”
– – – – – – –
** And here’s the Xander/Kennedy interaction. I promise that my views of the characters only rubbed off slightly. As in slightly more than a lot.**
Untitled Drabble #2
“You don’t like me.”
He shot her a Look. “No, I don’t. But Willow does… plus, you could turn me into a Twizzler. So I’ll be nice.”
“Why don’t you?” she demanded.
“For starters, THAT.” She’d unconsciously shifted into a fighting stance. “Something doesn’t suit you, you beat it till it does. Like you think you can do whatever you want, now that you’re a Slayer. So no, I don’t like you. But, here’s the scoop: I don’t HAVE to like you. ’Cause you’ll be gone soon. You don’t really love Willow, you love power. And Willow? Doesn’t love you.”
– – – – – – –
**Xander and Dawn that I had to write. It’s technically part of a segment to a story, but oh, well. And then, there’s one that I had to write, even though I don’t believe it. Possible, yes. Probable, no. Oh, well.**
Untitled Drabble #3
She leaned back. “So, I’m guessing you like me?
He resisted the urge to squirm. “No. You’re my sister.”
She took his face in her hands, and looked him in the eye. “No, I’m not. If I were, we just crossed the line into sick and wrong.”
He pulled away. “Guess I’m sick and wrong.” He was pacing now. “I took you to ballet class, baby-sat you —”
She interupted him. “You saved my life more times than I can count.”
His back was to her. “Maybe, but …” He turned back in. “Who the hell taught you to kiss like that?”
– – – – – – –
**And, finally …**
Untitled Drabble #4
He’d love to have her on his side. Better would be if he could also convince Ripper, but he’d take what he could get. And she would be easy to convince. All he’d have to do is get rid of the two that stood in his way: the white knight, and the golden girl. The tricky part would be in getting someone else to do it. It couldn’t be traced back to him. He was rather fond of living. He would plant the idea in a phone call.
He heard the ring and answer. “It’s Ethan. Slayers aren’t exactly bulletproof.”

Okay, would you people PLEASE give me ideas? I want to write, but I’m not so great on the idea end of things.

Date: 2006-05-14 05:53 pm (UTC)I picked out a couple of typos in the last one: All he'd have to do is get rid ot eh two taht stood in his way: the white knight, and teh golden girl.
No worries. I do that myself. I type so fast, my fingers get muddled *g*
As far as ideas go, how about Giles and Ethan, back in the day?
Ooh! And Buffy and Ford, at Hemery!
Riley and Sam's wedding.
How Joyce met Ted.
Anyanka's worst day on the vengeance demon job.
How Xander learned to snoopy dance.
Why Andrew was sent to LA, of all people.
How Giles took the news about what happened behind the Hyperion in NFA.
A conversation between Tara and Anya about love and the other person in their significant other's lives.
Cordy and Doyle, her first impressions.
Cordy and Doyle, her last impressions.
Spike and Dru in Prague, running from that angry mob.
That enough to be getting on with? *evil grins*

Date: 2006-05-14 06:09 pm (UTC)However, several times spelling errors disturbed my pleasure. For example: in the last drabble, "ot eh two taht" took me some time to decrypt. I can understand that you don't want a beta for drabbles; but maybe the Live Journal spell checker could help?
As for ideas: There's always a staple in Xander and Faith discussing the events of seasons 3 and 4 during S7, after Bad Girls, for example.
Another idea could be Cordelia - Faith during Angel; maybe with discussion about Xander or Angel or the similarity between the two. (Or the dissimilarity.)
Then there's an AU-possibility with Wesley of AtS5 talking to Xander, after Hole in the World, about Illyria and Fred and Anya and loss.
For an fic full of action: Vi, Rona, and whoever else of the potentials, post-Chosen, on stake-out. Maybe with some new Slayers, and Vi and Rona as instructors/babysitters. Maybe even with "Damn. The next generation DID turn out like us." Especially if some prankster or an all too smart witch would be in the team.
Then there's Giles, isolated in the politics of the Watcher's Council after S7, whose only confidante close-by is Andrew, of all people. His loneliness, his singular struggle against old structures, his fight to overcome traditions older than Great Britain itself is a titanic one, and there are far too few fics out there about it.
If I presumptuous, tell me. But I sincerely hope this helps.
Bright shiny gift

Date: 2006-05-24 07:29 am (UTC)Wouldn't really be such an issue after season 7 since there are a few hundred slayers (at least) running around leaving some open to more "imaginative" endeavors.
