Season 8 Buffy...

...Is not canon for me. It's just not. I don't care what Joss says, it is not canon.

I just read all forty issues, plus the stand alones, and seriously, I'm more confused after reading it than I was before reading it!

Can anyone explain things to me? Seriously? Because I'm a pretty smart gal, and I typically pick up on subtleties, but this thing is just a convoluted mess to me.

There were a few things that I liked about it. Mostly, though, it was moments that I liked, not actual storylines.

I really liked Xander and Buffy interactions. I really liked Renee, and wish she hadn't been killed before she and Xander actually went on a date. I really liked Xander and Dawn interactions and loved them hooking up. And I loved Buffy and Xander's conversation after she saw him kissing Dawn.

I really liked Giles and Faith traveling together. Kennedy was actually likable in the comics. I would have liked to see Vi a bit more, but overall, I was okay with how she was handled. I was intrigued by the idea of Dracula and Xander remaining friends.

So there were actually quite a few individual things that I liked, or at least was intrigued by. But I wasn't a huge fan of the storylines themselves. And I was irritated by what the storylines said about the characters (most notably Buffy and Angel).

Honestly, one of my favorite stories was "The Chain". Which was a one-shot side story. I really wish we could have known more about that girl. But that was the point.

I think you hit it on the head: Great moments, horrible story arcs.
